Zoox revealed intentions to introduce its autonomous taxi service to Austin, Texas, and Miami, Florida, marking the initial rollout in these locations, while simultaneously increasing availability in San Francisco and Las Vegas. The firm officially debuted its robotaxi operations in September 2025 and indicated back in March that trials would commence in Dallas and Phoenix.

Since 2024, a fleet of modified vehicles adapted by Zoox has been conducting tests in Austin and Miami, yet deploying the firm's specialized autonomous vehicle—crafted as a communal lounge on wheels featuring inward-facing seats—represents a significant advancement toward comprehensive deployment across these urban areas. Initially, the service will operate within restricted zones in each city and be accessible solely to Zoox staff members, their relatives, and acquaintances, though the company intends to widen eligibility as evaluations progress.

Residents of San Francisco and Las Vegas will benefit from improved accessibility, with Zoox now capable of collecting passengers from additional spots in Las Vegas, such as the Las Vegas Convention Center and most prominent hotels lining the Strip. Furthermore, the service will extend partial coverage to bustling gatherings at The Sphere and T-Mobile Arena, with future intentions to accommodate journeys to Harry Reid International Airport. Come spring, Zoox will broaden its ride offerings in San Francisco's eastern districts, encompassing the Marina, North Beach, Chinatown, Pacific Heights, and the Embarcadero corridor.

In addition to enhanced pickup points, Zoox is introducing a pair of enhancements to elevate the passenger journey in its autonomous vehicles. The 'Find My Zoox' feature enables the robotaxis to emit unique visual lights and auditory signals, helping users identify their assigned vehicle. Meanwhile, 'Zooxcast' allows passengers to stream their preferred music via Bluetooth connection during trips.

Although Zoox trails behind Waymo in the number of urban areas served by its autonomous taxis, it adopts a distinct strategy for its operations. The company prioritizes proprietary vehicle designs for passenger transport, contrasting with Waymo's rapid growth using adapted automobiles equipped with sensors for its Waymo Driver technology. Waymo aims to integrate custom robotaxis, jointly developed with Geely, into its lineup eventually, but Zoox's current offerings provide a more tailored riding experience.
