OpenAI has updated its AI chatbot through the recent GPT-5.2 version, introducing a more professional style that has drawn criticism from some users regarding its demeanor. Those experiencing ChatGPT as overly abrupt or cheeky now have a helpful update, as the company allows further personalization to infuse responses with greater warmth or energy.
OpenAI announced on X that individuals can modify traits via fresh Warm, Enthusiastic, Header & Lists, and Emoji features located in the Personalization menu. For each of these four choices, options include increasing, decreasing, or sticking with the standard level to precisely shape the chatbot's reply style. This enhancement arrives roughly one month following the inclusion of Professional, Candid, and Quirky modes in GPT-5.1, which fall under the Base style and tone category within the same Personalization section.
These recent adjustments appear connected to the challenges OpenAI encountered earlier this year during the launch of GPT-5 as a successor to GPT-4o. User backlash focused on the new version's reduced approachability and sociability, prompting the firm to provide model selection capabilities and commit to enhancing GPT-5's overall friendliness.
