A new online platform offers users the ability to examine emails from Jeffrey Epstein, which were made public by Congress, through an interface mimicking a Gmail inbox.
The site, called Jmail, displays a login message indicating the user is accessing the account as Jeffrey Epstein. The initiative was developed by Luke Igel, chief executive of Kino, and software developer Riley Walz, who previously contributed to the Panama Playlists—a project that exposed the music preferences of prominent individuals via a simulated Spotify environment amid privacy concerns.
Jmail closely replicates the Gmail layout, organizing emails chronologically from the latest ones down to those sent just before Epstein's 2019 arrest on charges related to the sex trafficking of minors. It also features a functional search capability.
The documents, totaling over 20,000, were disclosed by the US House Oversight Committee on November 12. They have renewed attention on the ties between Donald Trump and Epstein, with the former president's name appearing frequently throughout the archive. One message from the convicted sex offender suggested that Trump was aware of the underage girls involved.
In a 2011 message directed to Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein mentioned that Trump had passed several hours at his residence in the company of an individual whose identity was censored by the committee, identified as a victim. A 2017 exchange saw Epstein characterizing the then-president as even more unappealing in person. By 2018, Epstein claimed in correspondence that he possessed the leverage to undermine Trump.
The emails also cast a negative light on other notable individuals, including Prince Andrew, who in 2011 wrote to Epstein affirming their shared involvement. Former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers maintained contact with Epstein into 2019, well after the financier's 2008 conviction for procuring prostitution from minors. Following the release, Summers took a leave from his Harvard position and stepped down from the board of OpenAI.
The Jmail platform is accessible via its dedicated website.
