Fans of Ursula K. Le Guin's writing have a new offering to enjoy. The renowned author's online journal, launched in 2010 when she was 81 years old, is now being adapted into a podcast titled In Your Spare Time. The blog continued through 2017, after which a compilation of selected entries appeared in book form. Unlike that collection, the audio version will cover all content, from essays and poems to entries dominated by images of cats, as noted in the recent reveal. The debut installment arrives on April 8 via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and various other services.

An update from Le Guin's official Instagram, overseen by her estate, shares more details.

The goal has long been to produce an audio edition encompassing every blog entry, including those centered on cat photos. Over the coming two-plus years, new episodes will drop each Wednesday. Every installment involves a unique narrator voicing Le Guin's material, followed by the reader's personal reflections—perhaps on their connection to the author and her creations, the entry's theme, or other inspirations that arise.

A preview clip is available now in advance of this week's premiere. The opening piece, titled 'A Note at the Beginning,' features narration by David Mitchell.
