Netflix has increased rates for all its subscription options, as revealed on the recently updated 'Plans and Pricing' section noticed by Android Authority. This follows the previous adjustment in January 2025, which elevated each tier's fee by at least $1.
With this recent adjustment, the Standard plan featuring ads will rise from $8 monthly to $9, and its ad-free counterpart will go up from $18 to $20 per month. The Premium tier, offering 4K streaming, spatial audio, and simultaneous viewing on four devices, will increase from $25 to $27 monthly. Additionally, Netflix is raising the fee for adding an extra member: it now costs $8 more per month for ad-supported plans and $10 more for ad-free ones.
A Netflix representative explained the changes by stating that the firm is revising U.S. prices to account for enhancements in its diverse entertainment offerings and overall service quality. The updated rates will apply to existing users over the next few weeks. According to the representative, 'Current subscribers will receive email alerts one month prior to the changes taking effect, with the precise date varying by individual billing schedule.'
While Netflix has not yet committed to annual increases, such moves are becoming more frequent; the adjustment before 2025 occurred in 2023. These escalating fees are supporting the platform's expansion into live broadcasts, including sports and reality TV shows, as well as acquiring fresh content formats like video podcasts. Had Netflix not withdrawn in February, it could have provided funding for the Warner Bros. acquisition. Although Warner Bros. Discovery chose the Paramount Skydance bid instead, Netflix exited with a $2.8 billion payment from Paramount to terminate the deal for the longstanding movie studio.
