TikTok has revealed several enhancements aimed at boosting social interactions within the platform. One key addition is the Shared Feed feature, designed to allow friends and relatives to experience content collectively, even if not simultaneously.
This functionality operates through direct messages, delivering tailored videos to all chat members. According to TikTok, it offers a fresh method for joint content exploration, featuring a daily assortment of 15 algorithmically selected clips based on user behavior.
Access to these feeds requires an invitation, and members have the flexibility to exit the group anytime. A dedicated panel also enables users to review their shared likes and related statistics. The rollout of Shared Feed will commence worldwide over the next few months, echoing a comparable offering Instagram launched recently—marking a reversal from the usual dynamic where Instagram draws inspiration from TikTok.
In parallel, TikTok is introducing Shared Collections, a mechanism for pooling and distributing preserved videos. Users can assemble, arrange, and exchange video compilations, with potential applications including recommendations for books, nearby dining spots, and shopping items.
To utilize this, individuals simply bookmark a clip, form a collection, and forward it through messaging. Mutual following is necessary to view shared lists. This capability is already accessible to users aged 16 and above across the globe.
Additionally, TikTok plans to launch seasonal greeting cards for direct messaging, set to appear internationally by the end of the current month.
