For years, two prominent Ubisoft projects have appeared increasingly unlikely to materialize. Beyond Good & Evil 2 remains under active development, according to updates from last year. However, the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has now been formally scrapped, joining five other titles removed from the publisher's upcoming lineup.
This information emerged during a virtual media session attended by VGC, where the French publisher also revealed postponements for seven additional titles amid a sweeping internal reorganization. According to VGC's coverage, the sole canceled project specifically identified by Ubisoft is the revival of its 2003 hit, initially unveiled in 2020 and plagued by prolonged production challenges thereafter. Among the remaining cancellations are three fresh intellectual properties and a title designed for mobile platforms.
Details on the seven postponed games were not disclosed by Ubisoft, though VGC's account indicates that one had been slated for launch in the initial quarter of the current year but is now targeted for release prior to April 2027. Although not yet confirmed, speculation has swirled for months around a potential remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, positioning it as a probable candidate among the delayed entries.
The company further detailed its revamped structure, dividing operations into five autonomous 'creative houses' operating as separate entities. Among them is the earlier-revealed Vantage Studios, supported by Tencent, tasked with managing key series such as Rainbow Six, Assassin's Creed, and Far Cry.
During the midweek presentation, Ubisoft verified earlier accounts of shuttering its studios in Stockholm and Halifax, the latter having recently formed a union. Additional teams, including Massive Entertainment—the creators of Star Wars Outlaws—face reorganization under the updated framework. When pressed by VGC on potential staff reductions from this extensive shift, Ubisoft withheld specific figures.
