In a development reported by TheGamePost, Tencent has committed to halting all promotional efforts and public trials for its Light of Motiram title while its legal dispute with Sony progresses in court. The game bears striking resemblances to Sony's Horizon series, prompting the entertainment giant to initiate legal proceedings against the developer.

Sony is seeking a court order to prevent the title from being sold at all, yet during the ongoing proceedings, Tencent has pledged to minimize visibility for Light of Motiram. Through a recent court document, Tencent stated it would refrain from any fresh advertising or beta testing activities as the injunction motion is debated. As a concession, Sony has extended the deadline for Tencent to counter the injunction request.

Additionally, Tencent has moved to have the entire case thrown out. The two firms have collaborated on a proposal to consolidate the hearing for the injunction and the dismissal motion, potentially scheduling it as soon as next month.

Light of Motiram, for those unfamiliar, is an expansive open-world title centered on hunting, sharing clear parallels with Horizon Zero Dawn and its follow-up. Elements like the core premise, character designs, and promotional visuals echo the series, which led Sony to label it a blatant imitation in court filings.

That said, distinctions exist between the two. Sony's Horizon entries feature third-person exploration gameplay reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda, whereas Light of Motiram appears focused on multiplayer survival mechanics.

Tencent operates as a vast conglomerate with ownership of studios like Riot Games, Supercell, and Funcom. It holds significant investments in entities such as Epic Games, Ubisoft, Activision Blizzard, and Larian Studios, to name a few.
