Users with numerous open tabs in Safari may soon benefit from an automated organization tool that Apple is developing. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman indicates the company is creating a function named 'Organize Tabs' for inclusion in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. This tool will sort tabs without manual effort, though it lacks the Apple Intelligence branding despite probable reliance on AI elements. When available, it will allow individuals to opt in or out of the auto-sorting process, as per Gurman's insights.
The 'Organize Tabs' addition expands on the Tab Groups functionality added to Safari 15 in 2021. Meanwhile, Google introduced a comparable option in Chrome during January 2024, dubbed Organize Similar Tabs and promoted as a generative AI enhancement. Apple has historically trailed rivals in deploying AI-driven capabilities. Gurman suggests an initial reveal of this feature might occur at WWDC26, set to begin on June 8.
