Rode keeps expanding its lineup of simplified production gear for creators watching their expenses. The new Rodecaster Video Core is an integrated studio device that ranks below the premium Rodecaster Video and the recently positioned Video S in the mid-tier. Targeted at newcomers exploring this space or those with current audio setups looking to incorporate high-definition video, its most significant feature is the complete omission of onboard controls, with all operations managed via the Rodecaster App.

Connectivity options on the back include three HDMI inputs, one HDMI output, four USB-C ports, two 3.5mm jacks, and two Neutrik combination inputs. Linking a supported video source to a USB-C port supports up to four concurrent feeds, including network cameras connected over Ethernet. The Rode Capture app enables wireless streaming from iOS devices into the system. Users can also program automatic transitions between sources triggered by audio cues, easing the handling of streams with multiple participants.

Owners of Rode audio consoles will benefit from the Rodecaster Sync app for smoother workflows. The Rodecaster Pro 2 or Duo can link to the Video Core, permitting shortcut configurations straight to the pads. This integration allows overseeing audio and video elements from a unified station, likely cutting down on mid-stream adjustments.

The Core facilitates direct broadcasts to YouTube, Twitch, or alternative services. Footage can be stored on external drives, and a fresh firmware release for the series now supports EDL file generation for DaVinci Resolve editing. It also accommodates importing clips in atypical resolutions and formats, like square social media videos, which get resized and adjusted automatically for the broadcast.

Pre-orders for the Rodecaster Video Core begin today at $599, with no details released on global shipping timelines for the robust units.
