The November 2025 Pixel Drop from Google launched today, introducing enhancements that extend beyond its usual focus on Pixel smartphones and tablets. Among the updates is the Remix function in Google Messages, which broadens the reach of Gemini-enhanced image modification. Additionally, Google has refined its Scam Detection system and Pixel VIP capabilities.
Remix within Google Messages functions similarly to the Nano Banana editing tool from Google, integrated seamlessly into the messaging platform. It employs the identical AI model found in Gemini and Google Photos, enabling users to adjust images right inside conversations. Notably, these modified images remain visible to all chat participants, regardless of their device type beyond Android. The tool launches in English for users in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, and New Zealand who have RCS activated. According to Google, such altered images can also transmit via MMS.
Within the Google Photos application, editing capabilities now offer greater customization. Eligible Android device owners who have activated Ask Photos and Face Groups can mention individuals in their images by name during modifications. The app draws on historical images of tagged contacts to perform adjustments, such as inserting a smile or unveiling closed eyes, eliminating the need for manual reference images.
Owners of the newest Pixel 10 series devices will find the Pixel Drop adding a Power Saving Mode to Google Maps, which dims the display to black while displaying only vital navigation details. Google states this option can prolong battery endurance by as much as four hours. Although no further rollout has been detailed, the mode appears well-suited for potential integration into Android Auto.
Android's integrated Scam Detection tool identifies fraudulent incoming calls and alerts users through on-screen notices. With the Pixel Drop, this detection now applies to text messages as well, issuing warnings in notifications for Pixel 6 and later models during potential scams. The enhancement rolls out to the UK, Ireland, India, Australia, and Canada. It further adds Notification Summaries for Pixel 9 and higher, condensing repeated group chat alerts into a single overview in the notification panel. For contacts designated as Pixel VIPs since June, the system now elevates their incoming messages to ensure visibility.
In addition to these utility-focused additions, Google unveils a limited-time Wicked: For Good theme collection for Pixel 6 and subsequent models. Access comes through the newly launched Theme Packs application from earlier in November. The pack leverages current wallpaper and icon preferences to apply 'Glinda' and 'Elphaba' styles, with the main advantage being the streamlined process of updating multiple elements simultaneously. While the debut includes promotional content, the app holds promise for future versatility.
