Amazon has secured a multi-year licensing agreement with Oprah Winfrey, incorporating yet another influential voice into its podcast ecosystem. From July onward, her program will ramp up to two weekly episodes, accessible via Prime Video, Amazon Music, Fire TV channels, and Audible. Upcoming releases will continue to launch on YouTube and additional podcast networks, per reports from Variety.

Winfrey intends to retain the established structure from her YouTube podcast channel, which she initiated late in 2024. The series will spotlight discussions with writers, entertainers, and prominent individuals.

Additionally, Winfrey will develop exclusive specials inspired by her Oprah's Favorite Things and Oprah’s Book Club series for Amazon. The platform is obtaining distribution rights for the complete 25 seasons of The Oprah Winfrey Show, although specifics on reworking the iconic talk format are still under consideration by Winfrey and Amazon.

During the prior year, Amazon restructured its Wondery podcast division, combining the narrative storytelling unit with the Audible group while establishing a separate entity, Creator Services, for celebrity-driven content. This new arm disseminates programs such as New Heights by Jason and Travis Kelce and Armchair Expert by Dax Shepard throughout Amazon's offerings, as outlined by The New York Times.

Oprah's Book Club will connect with Audible, Kindle, Goodreads, and Amazon's retail site. Selections from the yearly Oprah's Favorite Things holiday roundup will receive prominence on the shopping platform too. Winfrey and Amazon plan to divide proceeds from sales and advertising equally.

In recent years, prominent media organizations have actively sought acquisitions of favored podcasts. The expansion of video podcasting has drawn participants like Netflix into the fray. Many consumers treat these shows as passive listening material, potentially making Winfrey's offering especially attractive to admirers of her long-running TV series, which wrapped up in 2011.
