The popular animated version of the Devil May Cry video game franchise on Netflix is coming back with its second season starting May 12. Alongside the reveal, the platform unveiled a complete trailer, building on a brief preview shared months earlier.

The latest clip teases abundant action sequences, and longtime followers of the series will observe that the lead character Dante closely resembles his video game version. This aligns with comments from executive producer Adi Shankar from last year, where he indicated that the upcoming season would highlight the character's signature bold and tough persona that gamers anticipate.

Both the animation and the original games center on a demon slayer of mixed human-demon heritage battling to keep the portals to Hell sealed. The debut season proved a massive success on the service, attracting over 5 million viewers within its initial four days.

Adi Shankar, the project's overseer, played a major role in Netflix's animated Castlevania series as well. Animation duties for this installment are again entrusted to Studio Mir, a reliable choice. The studio has previously worked on projects like The Legend of Korra, X-Men '97, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, and My Adventures with Superman. Given the stunning visuals of the initial season, expectations are high for a similar quality in the next.
