Microsoft has begun deploying several enhancements for Xbox Series X|S to participants in its Xbox Insiders initiative, including a long-sought addition from users. In the near future, players will have the ability to deactivate the Quick Resume function for chosen titles, ensuring they start from the beginning upon each launch.

To recap, Quick Resume debuted alongside Microsoft's latest console lineup. This capability allows suspending several titles at once, keeping them active in the background despite the system being powered down. Resuming a compatible game returns users to their prior spot in mere seconds, sometimes even after extended periods away, a capability that remains noteworthy well over five years after the Series X|S debut.

Throughout the years, gamers have noted that Quick Resume does not suit all experiences, especially those requiring constant internet connectivity. Exiting suspension for such titles frequently triggers alerts about lost connections, necessitating a full shutdown and restart. Certain other games face compatibility hurdles for assorted causes. Although closing titles manually is always an option, it demands extra inputs compared to the seamless suspension, making it simple to overlook.

This recent Xbox preview addresses the issue by permitting users to disable the feature individually for each game through the 'More Options' menu followed by 'Manage Quick Resume' on the respective game icon. This setup is particularly useful for offline solo adventures where seamless resumption enhances enjoyment. The modification has received approval from former Xbox figurehead Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb, who shared on X that he advocated for it five years back during his time at Microsoft.

The update further expands personalization features on the Xbox interface. Users can now set bespoke background hues instead of sticking to preset choices, and the Home screen's Groups limit has risen from two to ten, with reordering functionality mirroring that of game icons.

Certain Xbox Insiders can access these capabilities immediately, with a broader rollout to follow for all users.
