The aviation simulation title Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 arrived on PlayStation 5 last December, yet VR enthusiasts using the PS VR2 headset had to wait for full integration. That wait ended this Thursday with the rollout of a new patch enabling the feature.
In addition to VR2 compatibility, the patch adds a toggle to disable the heads-up display during virtual reality sessions while preserving it for flat-screen play. PlayStation 5 users also benefit from an enhanced photo album system that now stores screenshots directly in the console's media library instead of the game's own space, simplifying the process of distributing images captured amid the simulation's diverse terrains.
Asobo Studio, the game's creator, originally intended to deploy this update across every platform the previous week, but unforeseen issues pushed back the timeline. The developers shared on April 16 that they needed to resolve several essential glitches before proceeding.
Enhancements in the update focus on smoother gameplay, reducing interruptions like stuttering and elevating frame rates, particularly in bustling urban areas and intricate airport environments. A noteworthy addition is an updated weather radar interface, which enables aircraft creators to implement realistic radar systems complete with adjustable tilt capabilities.
All career progression paths are now accessible without restrictions, encompassing operations with heavyweight planes and vertical takeoff models. Improvements to ground support operations ensure greater dependability; even when a single element such as catering is missing, other elements like luggage handling, refueling, and boarding bridges operate as normal to maintain player timelines—a reminder that the simulator diverges from actual aviation realities.
