During a Reddit Ask Me Anything session, independent game creator Edmund McMillen shared updates on his forthcoming title, Mewgenics. The Steam debut of this strategy-focused feline genetics simulator has shifted slightly to February 10. Initially revealed in 2012, the project was previously targeted for sometime in 2024. The extended timeline allowed McMillen to focus on releasing Super Meat Boy Forever, a follow-up to his 2010 side-scrolling classic. Fans often associate McMillen with The Binding of Isaac, a series that has featured recent collaborations with games such as Balatro.

Highlights from the session also revealed McMillen's concepts for expansion packs, meaning players can anticipate extra material following the initial rollout. Mewgenics appears rich in longevity, as McMillen noted, 'I currently have 300+ hours across 2 saves and have only beaten the game on one save so far.' Console adaptations are in the works, but McMillen indicated they probably won't emerge before late 2025 at the earliest.
