A complimentary patch for Mario Kart World, the Nintendo Switch 2 debut game, has introduced team-based gameplay to the Knockout Tour mode. Previously, these races required individual competitors to outperform sufficient rivals to stay in the competition or face removal. Our review highlighted this aspect as a standout element, and the team addition is set to inject additional thrilling disorder into the races.
The team format allows for setups like two groups of 12 racers each, three groups of eight, or four groups of six. In cases where human players fall short of completing a team, AI-controlled drivers step in to round out the lineup. While personal achievements determine whether a player advances or is eliminated, points accumulate collectively with teammates' totals. Superior race finishes yield higher rewards, including 50 points for the victor and a single point for those who do not proceed to the subsequent track. Players who are knocked out remain able to observe the action and root for their squad. The feature is available through local wireless connections or online multiplayer.
