Liquid Swords revealed its first project during the PC Gaming Show today, with Samson: A Tyndalston Story slated for release in early 2026. The developer describes the title as a noir action experience emphasizing consequences, centering on protagonist Samson McCray, who faces mounting debt in a harsh urban setting.

The initial trailer offers limited plot details but evokes a dark, intense feel reminiscent of Max Payne. Action sequences appear intense and physical, while the developers aim to build a tense, unyielding environment. In their announcement, the team explained that the game revolves around a harsh reality where daily survival incurs costs, debt accumulates with interest, and time erodes options. Missions consume a finite supply of Action Points, choices alter the city's response, and there's no way to rewind progress—inaction only worsens the situation.

Liquid Swords has built anticipation for this initial release over time. Established in 2020, the company was started by Christofer Sundberg, the mind behind the Just Cause series during his tenure at Avalanche Studios. The team includes veterans from Mad Max and Battlefield projects who collaborated with Sundberg, leveraging their expertise in combat mechanics, interactive systems, character animation, and narrative-driven action to develop Samson.

Unlike the expansive open-world format of Just Cause, Samson promises a more streamlined adventure, as suggested by its affordable $25 cost. Earlier this year, the studio reduced its staff by an unspecified amount to secure ongoing viability in a tough market. The game will debut in early 2026 exclusively on Steam and the Epic Games Store, with no confirmation yet on console versions.
