LG advances the release of its CES-revealed lineup by introducing a cutting-edge 5K monitor tailored for gaming. The UltraGear Evo GM9 from LG incorporates a Mini LED panel supporting 5K resolution, complete with integrated AI upscaling that boosts game and media quality to superior levels without necessitating a graphics processor upgrade.
Differing from the UltraGear GX7's adoption of LG's Tandem OLED system, the Evo GM9 emphasizes Mini LED innovation, notably LG's 'Hyper Mini LED' panel that shortens the space between backlights and the display surface to curb light bleed and halo artifacts. This 27-inch model delivers 5K clarity at 5,120 by 2,880 pixels, achieves up to 1,250 nits of peak brightness, and employs 2,304 local dimming zones to elevate contrast and illumination. It further integrates LG's Dual Mode option, enabling 5K operation at 165Hz or 1140p at 330Hz, alongside compatibility with NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium to minimize artifacts like stuttering and image distortion.
The UltraGear Evo GM9 integrates multiple AI-driven tools to maximize its hardware potential, such as the highlighted AI upscaling, AI Scene Optimization for real-time visual adjustments, and AI Sound for dynamic audio enhancements. While optimized for gaming scenarios, the UltraGear line from LG proves equally suitable for work-related applications. Connectivity includes DisplayPort 2.1 and USB-C interfaces, with 90W Power Delivery to support data exchange and device charging through one connection.
In the United States, the LG UltraGear Evo GM9 can now be pre-ordered for $1,200 via LG's online store. The manufacturer plans rollouts to further international regions during the coming year.
