Hypixel Studios revealed on X that Hytale, an action-oriented alternative to Minecraft, will launch in early access for $20. The studio indicated this week that it intends to bring the title back online following the successful repurchase of its rights from Riot Games.

In addition to the $20 Standard version, Hypixel Studios will provide a $35 Supporter edition and a $70 Cursebreaker edition, both including extra cosmetic items. The decision to set the base price at $20 reflects the game's current incomplete status, as explained by Hypixel Studios co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme. In an X post, he stated, 'I'm pricing Hytale as aggressively low as possible. The game is unfinished and runs on a build from over four years ago. Charging more didn't feel right. I don't think the game is good yet.'

The day following the announcement of the agreement with Riot Games, Hypixel Studios released video clips of Hytale. Riot had previously terminated the project in June 2025, after five years of work that involved a significant overhaul of the game's engine, according to Hypixel CEO Aaron Donaghey's comments at that time.

Riot Games acquired Hypixel Studios amid a growth phase that featured the introduction of its publishing arm, Riot Forge, known for creating spin-offs from League of Legends such as Ruined King: A League of Legends Story. In 2024, Riot chose to discontinue Riot Forge while implementing widespread staff reductions across the organization.
