Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's forthcoming action-adventure title, reminiscent of the Yakuza series, Stranger Than Heaven, is set to reveal more details shortly. Xbox has scheduled a developer and cast-focused session for this new game on Wednesday.
This about 30-minute presentation promises to share information on the narrative, setting, protagonists, and additional elements. The game is confirmed to span five distinct urban locations over five historical periods: 1915, 1929, 1943, 1951, and 1965. The 1960s segment seems likely to unfold in Kamurocho, the imagined Tokyo neighborhood featured in the Yakuza games.
Enthusiasts are theorizing that the project might function as a kind of origin story for the Yakuza universe, depicting the emergence of its key organizations. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has remained silent regarding any ties between this title and its established franchise.
The game, previously referred to as Project Century during development, lacks an announced launch date. Although the event falls under the Xbox Partner Preview banner, Stranger Than Heaven is slated for release on PlayStation 5 and Steam as well.
Tune into 'Xbox Presents: A Special Look at Stranger Than Heaven' via stream on Wednesday, May 6, starting at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Options include the YouTube broadcast shown here or the Xbox channel on Twitch, with an American Sign Language interpretation provided.
