Those planning to experiment with fun visuals over the extended holiday period using Google's latest Nano Banana Pro AI tool may face disappointment, as the tech giant has imposed tighter restrictions on no-cost access. According to a support page highlighted by 9to5Google, complimentary accounts are now restricted to producing just two pictures each day, a reduction from the prior allowance of three. Google attributes this to surging interest in image creation and modification features, adding that such caps could fluctuate often and refresh every 24 hours.

The restrictions extend to free access for Gemini 3 Pro as well, with the same document indicating that unpaid subscribers receive only fundamental capabilities, subject to variable daily thresholds. Upon its debut on November 18, Google had pledged five complimentary interactions daily for Gemini 3 Pro, matching the setup for Gemini 2.5 Pro. Subscribers to the Google AI Pro or AI Ultra packages see no alterations to their quotas, which stay at 100 daily interactions for the former and 500 for the latter.

This move by Google echoes actions taken by other firms after launching hit products. For instance, OpenAI postponed the introduction of ChatGPT's integrated image creation tool for no-fee users due to unexpectedly high usage, though it later extended the capability to them.
