Google has integrated a dedicated sidebar into its Chrome browser, giving users the ability to engage with Gemini AI directly from any active tab.
Originally launched in the United States, the Gemini AI tool embedded in Chrome is now reaching broader audiences. From today onward, Google is deploying this native chatbot to individuals throughout the Asia-Pacific area, which encompasses nations like Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam. This step builds on a prior release earlier this year that brought the feature to residents of Canada, India, and New Zealand.
In all specified locations except Japan—where iOS compatibility remains pending—users can employ Gemini in Chrome on the desktop browser or via the iPhone and iPad applications. Activation occurs by selecting the 'Ask Gemini' button in the upper-right area. This triggers a sidebar, unveiled by Google at the year's outset, that supports AI interactions spanning all open tabs. The panel also provides entry to Google's internal image synthesis tool, Nano Banana 2. Furthermore, it connects with various Google services, enabling actions like inserting appointments into Calendar all within the same window.
Those opting out of Gemini usage can simply right-click the icon and choose to detach it from the interface's upper section.
