Games Done Quick recently concluded its 2025 lineup, yet fresh charitable speedrunning initiatives loom ahead. The group unveiled the timetable for Back to Black 2026 this Tuesday, with live streams running from February 5 until February 8.
The event's title reflects its focus on honoring the Black community through the thrill of video games. Put together by Black in a Flash, it highlights speedruns conducted solely by Black participants across a spectrum of games, from well-known favorites to lesser-known entries.
The agenda features an array of engaging challenges. A participant will tackle Hades II, widely regarded as a standout release from 2025. Cuphead appears as well, infamous for its intense difficulty even without time pressure. Classic titles like Donkey Kong Country, Street Fighter 2, and Sonic Heroes are included, alongside more unusual selections such as the eccentric 1996 Sega Saturn production Mr. Bones.
Proceeds from this edition will aid Race Forward, a group committed to promoting racial justice. The prior Back to Black gathering generated $44,000 in donations for the identical organization.
