The modular computer maker Framework has adjusted upward the cost of RAM configurations for its Desktop and Mainframe models, citing increased expenses from suppliers. Relative to the initial launch figures, the 32GB and 64GB variants have risen by $40 apiece, while the 128GB option has jumped by $460. Updated costs now stand at $1,139 for the 32GB setup, $1,639 for 64GB, and $2,459 for 128GB.

Framework initiated these pricing updates last month and pledged to keep customers informed about fluctuations in RAM expenses. The firm also assured that it plans to lower prices as soon as market conditions stabilize. Customers with pre-existing orders will continue to benefit from the original rates.

A key insight from CES 2026 highlighted that RAM will remain a premium resource throughout the year. This surge in prices stems primarily from demands tied to artificial intelligence initiatives, including the expansion of data centers.

Consequently, those opting for modular hardware might consider enhancing other, more affordable parts to achieve improved performance, thereby avoiding the substantial outlay required for additional memory.
