The gaming sector continues to see workforce reductions, with Eidos Montreal revealing plans to eliminate 124 positions. The studio attributed this measure in a LinkedIn update to shifts in project requirements affecting both development and auxiliary staff. Additionally, the firm is separating from its director, David Anfossi.

Known for contributions to the Deus Ex and Tomb Raider series, along with Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and Marvel's Avengers titles, Eidos Montreal operates under the umbrella of Embracer Group. This parent company acquired numerous development outfits but entered a cycle of cutbacks after a costly overhaul of its operations in 2023 and 2024, which apparently involved scrapping an in-development Deus Ex sequel from Eidos Montreal.

While the studio's announcement omitted details on ongoing initiatives, it has previously confirmed participation in Obsidian Entertainment's Grounded 2 and Playground Games' refreshed Fable project.
