Over a year since capturing widespread attention and securing the top spot among free applications on the US Apple App Store, DeepSeek has introduced its newest AI variants: V4 Pro and Flash. In its reveal, the company highlighted the arrival of affordable technology supporting up to 1 million tokens in context length. This metric refers to the largest volume of data an AI can retain during processing, enabling better continuity and logic in prolonged interactions. For comparison, OpenAI's latest GPT-5.5 offering supports between 400,000 and 1 million tokens in its context window.

The updated system remains available as open-source software, permitting downloads and custom alterations by interested parties. According to DeepSeek, the V4 Pro variant features improved functionalities for autonomous operations and matches leading proprietary systems in logical processing. It positions just behind Gemini-3.1-Pro regarding comprehensive global information retention. The V4 Flash edition, while not as robust overall, delivers quicker outputs. DeepSeek notes that its logical performance nears that of the Pro model and equals it in basic autonomous assignments.

Following its surge to the forefront of App Store rankings, DeepSeek faced restrictions from US federal entities and bans on official government hardware, stemming from concerns over potential national security vulnerabilities and risks to domestic AI enterprises. In a similar vein, South Korea halted app downloads citing issues related to user data protection.
