The App Store hosts a diverse array of applications, ranging from controversial tools to entertainment options like games. Apple Arcade, its subscription-based gaming service, is set to add another title: the moderately reviewed Sid Meier's Civilization VII.
On Wednesday, Apple revealed that Civilization VII will join the platform nearly a year following its initial release. While the game is currently accessible on Apple hardware, this marks its debut within the Apple Arcade catalog.
Offering the title at no extra cost to Arcade subscribers seems fitting in light of its divided reception. Players often criticize the mechanics for shifting between historical periods, with one Steam user noting, 'I have Ben Franklin leading the Romans that turned into Ben Franklin leading Spain... like what? Who asked for this?' Despite this, the game's graphics receive widespread acclaim.
The Apple Arcade version of Civilization VII is slated for release on February 5 and will support play on Mac, iPhone, and iPad devices.
