A month has passed since the mobile release of Ball x Pit in March, and the upcoming patch on April 27 promises to draw players back to the engaging brick-breaking roguelite, which earned a spot among Engadget's top games of 2025.
Developer Kenny Sun shared details of the update via the PlayStation Blog, outlining additions such as two fresh characters, 11 balls equipped with unique abilities, four passive enhancements, and a new structure. Selecting The Tiptoer allows players to approach foes undetected, though at the cost of reduced vitality and attack strength. This choice pairs effectively with The Shieldbearer, enabling aggressive positioning near bosses to quickly reflect balls and amplify output. Meanwhile, The Tunneller launches projectiles that curve around the screen's borders and reemerge from the opposite side.
Among the new balls and their developments are Venom, which decelerates enemies and immobilizes them after repeated strikes, alongside time-manipulating options that can halt foes entirely. Erosion gradually drains a portion of an enemy's health bar, potentially diminishing boss threats swiftly, while the Warp ball teleports to unpredictable spots and accelerates with each collision against adversaries. These elements hold potential for powerful combinations with zone-based effects or abilities that generate additional balls sharing similar traits.
The Sniper ball offers a focused mechanic, piercing multiple enemies along a linear path until encountering an obstacle. Although some may favor disorderly gameplay styles over this methodical one.
Passive upgrades like Full Metal Rapier boost ball potency based on the quantity of standard enemies and basic balls present in the play area. Arrow of Fate transforms incoming enemy shots into clusters of simple balls upon contact, suggesting strong interactions between these two features.
Furthermore, the Guildhall structure, integrable into the game's city-building aspect, lets players revise previously selected character upgrades. Observers anticipate its impact during actual sessions.
This patch marks the second in a series of three complimentary updates from Kenny Sun and Devolver Digital. The initial release in January added extra upgrades and an infinite mode, with the final one slated for July.
