Sony has announced three PlayStation Plus Essential games for April, forming a robust selection available to subscribers across all tiers starting April 7. Once downloaded, these titles remain accessible in users' libraries for the duration of their active subscription.
The lineup begins with Lords of the Fallen on PS5, a follow-up to the 2014 title bearing the identical name. Released in 2023, it expands the world significantly while retaining the original's intense combat style. As an action role-playing game, it offers nine playable classes and a vast array of weapons. A distinctive dual-realm system draws parallels to the parallel worlds in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The game earned positive critical reception and strong player engagement, with a subsequent installment planned for later this year.
Next is the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered collection, launched in 2024, which updates the classic PlayStation-era adventures with modern visuals while allowing seamless toggling to the original low-poly aesthetic. It introduces a challenge mode enabling level replays with adjustable parameters to unlock achievements. This package serves as an ideal introduction for Lara Croft enthusiasts unfamiliar with the initial releases and is compatible with both PS4 and PS5.
Rounding out the selection is Sword Art Online Fractured Daybreak, a multiplayer-focused action RPG for PS5 that prioritizes cooperative play. Up to 20 participants can explore together in groups of five across the game's environments. The storyline integrates characters from numerous series entries, employing a crossover structure akin to that in Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, which unites figures from different installments through creative plotting.
With these additions, March's games will exit the service, giving subscribers until April 6 to claim titles such as PGA Tour 2K25, Monster Hunter Rise, Slime Rancher 2, and The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: Gold Road.
