According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, iOS 27 may introduce a thorough redesign of the iPhone's Camera application, enhancing personalization and giving professional and amateur photographers greater influence over the device's imaging results. These enhancements are expected to feature alongside other announcements at WWDC 2026, including boosts in performance and artificial intelligence capabilities.

The primary modification involves increasing the app's flexibility. Users may no longer be limited to Apple's standard layout for taking pictures and recording videos, as customization options could allow adjustments based on preferences. iPhones would retain a standard Apple design by default, yet users might replace specific controls—such as those for image quality, lighting flash, or live photo activation—with alternatives from an innovative 'Add Widgets' section. Additionally, the application is said to incorporate sophisticated settings, including adjustments for background blur, brightness levels, and Apple's photographic style preferences.

While the Camera Control button already provides a straightforward method for modifying these parameters on iPhones, touchscreen interactions are anticipated to become more intuitive. Among the interface adjustments, new alignment grids and leveling tools will appear during photo sessions, and the switch to access all controls will shift from the upper-right corner of the Camera app to the area beside the capture button.

Certain artificial intelligence enhancements will extend to the camera functionality. Instead of relying on a dedicated Visual Intelligence mode accessible solely via the Camera Control, a fresh Siri integration within the Camera app could enable AI-driven tasks involving the lens, such as visual lookups or real-time text conversion. Moreover, AI is expected to drive innovative image adjustment capabilities.

Transformations for Siri are substantial as well. In addition to greater intelligence, the assistant's luminous visual effect will relocate from the iPhone's edges to the Dynamic Island in line with forthcoming modifications. People could submit queries or inquiries by typing into a revamped 'Search or Ask' panel that supersedes the current Spotlight Search in iOS, according to Bloomberg. This panel would deliver card-formatted outcomes and support seamless transitions to a conversational mode for engaging with the updated Siri. It would integrate online information and accommodate spoken commands. As noted earlier, previous interactions with Siri could be reviewed through a dedicated Siri application.

Additional alterations are more modest in scope. Safari is set to receive a refreshed landing page, the Weather application will present expanded information, and the Image Playground tool will undergo a streamlined redesign for better accessibility. With WWDC 2026 scheduled to begin on June 8, further disclosures are likely imminent, though Apple seems poised to unveil at least one noteworthy update unrelated to AI.
