Respawn Entertainment, the creator of Apex Legends, has announced that support for the game on the Nintendo Switch will conclude this summer alongside the launch of Season 30. From then on, the title will remain available on the Switch 2 and existing platforms, excluding the initial Switch version. In an announcement shared on X, the developers noted that Season 29 marks the last content addition for Apex Legends on the Nintendo Switch.
The discontinuation is scheduled for August 4, 2026, giving Nintendo Switch users ample time—several months—to continue playing and prepare for a potential transition to another device. Respawn emphasized that all player achievements, in-game buys, and rewards are linked to personal EA accounts. This ensures that items like Apex Coins and cosmetic unlocks will transfer seamlessly to the Nintendo Switch 2, regardless of whether the new console is acquired before or after the cutoff date.
While the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 promises an enhanced gameplay environment for Apex Legends compared to its predecessor, the decision represents a setback for those sticking with the original hardware without immediate upgrade intentions. The battle royale game originally arrived on the Nintendo Switch in 2021, lagging two years behind its debut on other systems.
