The Anbernic RG Rotate, a distinctive portable retro gaming device, opens for pre-orders on May 11. Its square-shaped screen rotates like the classic T-Mobile Sidekick flip phone from years past.
This gadget packs solid hardware capable of emulating PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, select GameCube offerings, and games from earlier systems. At its core is a Unisoc Tiger T618 eight-core processor, paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB built-in storage.
Powered by Android 12, the console offers a substantial battery life and a USB-C connector for power and file transfers. Controls include a central gamepad, standard face buttons, and swappable trigger buttons, while the rotating screen accommodates varying game screen formats.
Affordability stands out in the current landscape of similar products. The RG Rotate comes in two variants: a black edition with a plastic rear and metal faceplate priced from $88, and a silver all-metal version starting at $108. Anbernic plans initial launch promotions subtracting a small amount, reducing costs to $83 and $100 for early purchasers.
