Amazon has addressed viewer complaints about mistakes in its AI-created episode summaries by seemingly removing them from Prime Video. Launched in November, the Video Recaps tool was designed to help users quickly catch up on continuing series, though problems arose when a summary for Fallout misstated essential story details and the series' backdrop.

Per Amazon's initial Video Recaps reveal, these summaries are accessible in the 'Extras' menu for web-based viewing or through a special recap icon on the series' landing page. Visiting the Fallout season two section presently shows the flawed summary has vanished. Actually, via the web interface, no video summaries appear for the series under testing, such as Fallout, Bosch, Upload, The Rig, and Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan.

Engadget has reached out to Amazon for clarification on the recap removals. This report will include updates upon receiving a reply.

Video Recaps form part of Amazon's efforts to incorporate AI across its various platforms and offerings. Earlier, it rolled out AI-produced English audio tracks for chosen anime series on Prime Video, then discontinued them following user objections. Amazon further employs AI to create overviews for multi-volume book collections offered in the Kindle Store.
