Amazon's Luna cloud gaming platform is terminating its third-party integration capabilities. This shift immediately prevents users from purchasing Ubisoft+ or Jackbox Games subscriptions, as well as individual titles, directly via the service.
The company plans to terminate any ongoing subscriptions acquired through Luna following the conclusion of the current billing period. Customers with a Ubisoft+ membership obtained straight from Ubisoft can continue linking those titles to Luna up to June 10.
The Bring Your Own Library feature, enabling gameplay of owned titles from platforms such as EA, GOG, and Ubisoft, is also being phased out. Access to content from these sources on Luna will cease after June 3.
Titles purchased directly on Luna remain playable on the platform through June 10. In contrast to Google's Stadia closure, Amazon provides no reimbursements for these acquisitions. Owners can still access the games via the associated third-party applications, including the EA App, GOG Galaxy, or Ubisoft Connect.
This development offers little relief to individuals lacking hardware capable of running intensive titles who depended on Luna for streaming. Affected users may need to explore alternatives like GeForce Now, assuming it accommodates their specific library entries.
Over recent months, Amazon has been refining Luna, introducing an updated iteration in October that emphasizes GameNight social gaming sessions playable using mobile devices.
Amazon Prime members retain complimentary access to PC game claims and Luna Standard channel streaming. The Luna Premium tier, featuring an expanded selection of third-party content, continues to be offered.
In a message to Luna users, Amazon stated, 'We’re doubling down on a broad range of gaming experiences, including strong third-party titles, delivered in ways that make great games more accessible, as well as new and unique gaming experiences like GameNight.' Additionally, the firm mentioned providing complimentary Luna Premium access to select individuals.
