The world's top-selling video game is transitioning into a real-world attraction. A dedicated permanent theme park called Minecraft World, inspired by the title, is set to debut in Greater London in 2027. Officials revealed the plans at Minecraft Live 2026.
This addition will integrate into Chessington World of Adventures, an existing site that features an on-site zoo. The location is accessible via a 35-minute train journey from London's Waterloo station.
Specifics remain limited at this stage. Confirmed elements include a roller coaster, engaging interactive experiences, and large-scale playscapes constructed from block-like structures. Torfi Frans Ólafsson, creative director for the Minecraft series, described the goal as creating a deeply engaging, true-to-form, and inclusive environment. Expect opportunities to spend at shops and eateries styled after the game's aesthetic.
The project stems from a partnership involving Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainments, the operator of the planet's second-biggest collection of theme parks. Only one mouse-dominated conglomerate outranks them.
For those not drawn to the complete English park visit, a fresh installment of the game's live pop-up activations launches in May. Titled Minecraft Experience: Moonlight Trail, it offers participants in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a one-hour evening outdoor journey. Visitors will traverse a glowing path amid classic Minecraft landscapes, where they can assemble equipment, extract diamonds, confront hostile creatures, and assist in reactivating a historic beacon.
Minecraft Live shared more than just expansions into physical spaces; the core game receives enhancements too. The upcoming major release, Tiny Takeover, introduces revamped, more adorable designs for juvenile creatures. It also brings a golden dandelion flower, which, when given to a young mob, prevents it from aging permanently—though a follow-up dose reverses the effect. This content rolls out on March 24.
Developers previewed the subsequent update as well. Chaos Cubed, arriving later in the year, features a sulfur-based cube that alters its characteristics based on absorbed substances. The team highlights extensive possibilities for the cube's functions, comparable to spheres that vary in elasticity and motion, allowing for diverse physical interactions.
In closing, the anticipated sequel Minecraft Dungeons II has been confirmed. Information on this follow-up to the 2020 action spin-off stays sparse, except that players can add it to their wishlists starting March 21.
